Terms of Use

The rules that apply when you access or use CaliLane.

1. About these terms

These Terms of Use govern access to and use of CaliLane. CaliLane is operated by Merrow Interactive (new limited company under formation), organisation number to be added after registration. By creating an account, completing onboarding or otherwise using CaliLane, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Who may use CaliLane

CaliLane is intended for people aged 16 or older. If the law where you live requires permission from a parent or guardian, you may only use CaliLane with that permission. You must provide accurate information and must not create an account for another person without authority.

3. Wellness tool, not medical care

CaliLane is a general wellness, nutrition, activity and self-tracking tool. It is not a healthcare provider and does not provide diagnosis, treatment, emergency assistance or individual medical, nutritional or psychological advice. Information, goals, calorie estimates, macro calculations, activity summaries and reminders are general estimates and may be incomplete or inaccurate. Seek qualified professional advice when needed.

4. Accounts and security

Some features require an account. You are responsible for protecting your login details, keeping your account information current and notifying us if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless it results from our failure to apply reasonable security measures.

5. Your information and choices

You decide what information to enter, which permissions to grant and whether to enable optional analytics or country step statistics. Certain personal features require the processing of health, nutrition, body or activity information. The Privacy Policy explains the data, purposes, legal bases, retention and controls that apply. Accepting these terms is not consent to optional analytics.

6. Nutrition, recipes and imported content

Nutrition values, serving sizes and recipe calculations are estimates. You must verify ingredients, allergens and suitability before eating or serving food. When importing a recipe or other material, you must have the right to use it. CaliLane may transform information for personal use but does not grant rights to third-party text, photographs, trademarks or recipes.

7. Health integrations and third-party services

CaliLane may connect to services such as Apple Health, Health Connect, authentication providers, app stores and infrastructure providers. Connections are optional unless clearly stated otherwise. Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy notices. Availability may depend on your device, operating system, region and permissions.

8. Community and user content

Community features may let you create a profile, connect with others and share content. You retain ownership of your content. You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, reproduce, adapt and display that content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the selected features. You must follow the Community Guidelines and must not share content that is unlawful, harmful, deceptive, infringing or privacy-invasive.

9. Moderation

We may investigate reports and remove, limit or restrict content or accounts when reasonably necessary to enforce these terms, protect users, comply with law or maintain service security. We may use automated signals to prioritise review, but significant moderation decisions may be reviewed by a person where appropriate.

10. Acceptable use

You must not misuse CaliLane, bypass security, access another user's account, scrape the service, upload malicious code, interfere with operation, use the service to harass others, submit false reports, reverse engineer protected parts except where law expressly permits it, or use CaliLane for unlawful commercial or medical purposes.

11. Intellectual property

CaliLane, its software, design, branding, icons, original content and documentation are owned by us or our licensors. These terms give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the service for its intended purpose. No ownership rights are transferred to you.

12. Changes, availability and beta features

CaliLane is developed continuously. We may add, change, suspend or remove features, including test or beta features. We do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every feature will work on every device. We will take reasonable steps to communicate material changes that affect your rights or stored information.

13. Suspension and termination

You may stop using CaliLane and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate access when you materially breach these terms, create risk for users or the service, fail to pay an agreed charge, or when required by law. Where reasonable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to appeal or correct the issue.

14. Responsibility and liability

CaliLane is provided with reasonable care, but no digital service is error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by mandatory law, we are not responsible for indirect loss, lost opportunities, health outcomes caused by ignoring professional advice, or loss caused by inaccurate user input or third-party services. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limits mandatory consumer rights.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Swedish law, without depriving consumers of mandatory protection in their country of residence. Contact us first so we can try to resolve a dispute. Consumers in Sweden may also contact the National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN) or another competent consumer dispute body. Courts with jurisdiction under applicable law may hear unresolved disputes.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the service, law or our business changes. The current version and effective date will be published here. If a change materially affects your rights, we may notify you in the app and require renewed acceptance before continued use.

18. Local use, accounts and cloud features

Where CaliLane offers local mode, core personal features such as food and body tracking, badges and a local CaliScore can be used without creating a CaliLane account. Information that remains local is stored on the device and is not available for account recovery or server-backed cross-device restoration unless you separately use a sync, backup or other online feature. Deleting the app, clearing its data, replacing the device or losing the device may therefore permanently remove local-only information. An account is required for account-based features such as community functions and server-verified country or global ranking. Creating or signing in to an account does not by itself enable optional product analytics or country step statistics; those remain separate choices.

19. CaliLane ranking and leaderboards

CaliLane may provide server-verified country and global ranking based on CaliScore and verified badge information associated with a signed-in account. A local user may earn badges and a local CaliScore without an account, but does not participate in the server-verified leaderboard until the relevant account requirements are met. When you activate a community profile, eligible other community users may see a leaderboard row containing your display name, username, avatar if provided, CaliScore, ranking position and relevant country or global context. A private community profile can still appear in ranking; the private setting may limit access to profile content but is not, by itself, a hide-from-ranking control. Blocking between users removes the blocked relationship from ordinary leaderboard results. Ranking positions and participant counts can change as scores, participation, ranking rules or verification data change. We may correct, exclude or remove scores or ranking entries that we reasonably believe are invalid, manipulated or produced through abuse, automation or exploitation of errors. Ranking has no cash value and creates no right to a prize unless separate campaign terms expressly say otherwise. Raw weight values, food logs, progress photos and raw Apple Health or Health Connect measurements are not displayed in the leaderboard.

No private residential address will be published. The documents will be reviewed again before CaliLane launches publicly.
